Shark Point

Crusoes Exterior Deluxe Sea Side Bure Palm Tree Sun Deck & Grounds

A sheer wall running northwest meets another wall running north. The current runs usually from south to east. As the current strengthens so does the action.
Schools of tuna can suddenly surround the dive boat. A large hammerhead shark can be spotted cruising lazily near the surface. A sudden splash will alert you to a manta ray leaping……..and this is all before you actually enter the water! Schools of barracuda hundreds strong can appear beside you underwater. Trevally of all types abound here.

Schools of parrot fish and snapper are seen. Large maori wrasse haunt the top of the wall. Angelfish of all types flit in and out of coral formations. There are even anemone colonies of all colours with attendant clownfish, porcelain crabs and popcorn shrimp.

However the sight to enthrall are the feeding bronze whaler sharks. They cruise in the current at the point. The greater the current the more sharks you see……an adrenalin buzz that will draw you back to enjoy again.

The site begins at 12 metres and drops away dizzily to 50 metres. Level is from advanced to very experienced depending on current, profile and action.
