Frequently Asked Questions about Crusoe's Retreat

How far is Crusoe's Retreat from the Nadi airport?
Crusoe's Retreat is located approximately 2 hours from Nadi, along Fiji's famous Coral Coast. We offer nonstop, air-conditioned car transfers between Crusoe's Retreat and Nadi, Suva and any point on the main island of Viti Levu.

What do I need to bring for my holiday?
Crusoe's is a very laid back, tropical resort. This is the type of place where you take off your shoes and your watch, and not see them until the day you depart!  We are a very casual resort, embracing the concept that "life is too short to get dressed up for dinner".  Be sure to bring your swimming gear, sunscreen, light tropical clothing, and your relaxed attitude!

What is included in the nightly rate?
Well . . . LOTS!  First off, full cooked breakfast is included in our nightly rates.  We offer any complimentary resort activities including sea kayaking, snorkeling, beach volleyball, tennis, bush hikes, visits to our neighboring village, and more! There is a daily activities programme that is listed at Reception, as well as Fijian cultural activities.  We do have an Activities Centre to help you with gear and options, as well as a Tour Desk that can assist with any optional tours and excursions.  Don't forget to stop by the restaurant around 4:00p for our complimentary afternoon tea and snacks.  We also offer nightly entertainment, and even some nighttime fun and games!

What is provided in the Bures?
Your Fijian-inspired bure features a Queen Bed or a King Bed (Deluxe SeaSide Bure only), as well as comfy furniture in the sitting area as well as the covered verandah.  The bathrooms feature a double vanity and double shower, and come complete with bath amenities and hair dryer.  There is a mini-fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, telephone, and your own personal safe.

What kind of power is in the Bure?
Fiji offers 220v power, using angled two prong power plugs (like those found in Australia and New Zealand).  If you are traveling from outside of Australia and New Zealand you will need a plug adapter, and possibly a power converter.

Is there internet access at the Resort?
Yes, we offer wireless internet access for a nominal fee (you can purchase a pre-paid internet card), and we also offer a computer for guest use.

Is there a swimming pool?
Oh yes - we have perhaps the most recognizable swimming pool in all of Fiji. Our swimming pool is shaped like a foot!

Is there Scuba Diving at Crusoe's?
Yes - Dive Crusoe's is located on site at the resort. We offer full dive instruction from beginner to advanced, and our experienced dive guides will show you the best sites around Crusoe's.  Most of our dive sites are within a 10 minute boat ride.  New to diving? We would love to give you a FREE beginner dive in the pool so you can try it for yourself.  But beware: once you try it, you may be hooked!

How much cash do I need to bring to Crusoe's?
Almost everything you do and buy at Crusoe's will be put on your bure account, which you may pay when you depart.  So, there is no need to carry cash around at the resort. You may charge meals, drinks, boutique purchases, spa treatments, optional tours and excursions, and more back to your account.  You may want a little bit of Fiji dollars if you want to purchase some items at our neighboring village, or if you are going on a shopping trip outside of the resort. There are ATMs at the Nadi airport where you can get some cash.

What about tipping?
Tipping in Fiji is not appropriate, and we ask guests not to tip our staff. If you enjoyed your stay with us and received excellent service, you are welcome to contribute to our Staff Holiday Fund, which at the end of the year is distributed evenly amongst all of our staff.
